Some of these stories are connected to Shepherd’s House programs. Others help us better understand the lived experience of homelessness, recovery, and care. All are shared to help us see one another more clearly. Some names have been changed to protect some identities, however the stories are true.

Diane, a volunteer in the Men’s Center kitchen, serves over 1,000 meals a month with empathy and generosity, donating equipment, naming a new mixer “Mollie,” and embodying the spirit of giving that nourishes both body and hope for those living in survival mode.

Continuum of Care

The Bend year-round shelter, now the Lighthouse Navigation Center under Shepherd’s House Ministries, provides a full continuum of care that helps individuals transition from homelessness to recovery, sobriety, and reintegration into society, with volunteers and donors playing a crucial role in supporting life-changing programs like the Men’s Center.

Volunteer Spotlight: Emily

Emily, a domestic violence survivor and ultra-runner, is fundraising for Shepherd’s House Ministries by running the Moab 240 Endurance race, using her story to raise awareness of the ministry’s support for women escaping abuse and inspiring others to donate to help provide refuge, healing, and resources.
