Volunteers are an important part of the care and community at Shepherd’s House. Whether you serve regularly or occasionally, your time and presence help create environments of dignity, connection, and hope.
You don’t need special skills, just a willingness to show up with care and respect.

Volunteering at Shepherd’s House is about more than tasks. It’s about being present with people, offering kindness, and supporting pathways forward.
Many volunteers find that serving here:

Volunteer opportunities vary across our programs and locations. Here are a few ways people commonly serve.

Help prepare or serve meals in a welcoming, respectful environment. Meal service volunteers help create moments of care and connection each day.

Support mobile outreach efforts (SHARE and Shower Truck) that meet people where they are with food, clothing, supplies, and conversation.

Support the behind-the-scenes work that helps programs run smoothly and spaces stay welcoming.

Share skills, knowledge, and life experience in ways that support growth, confidence, and practical readiness. Teaching and mentorship roles focus on encouragement, consistency, and walking alongside others as they take next steps.
Because safety is a high priority for us, we will walk you through a background check process. As a grace-based ministry, we want to extend grace to all residents, guests, staff, and volunteers. If you expect something to appear on your background check, please contact us to discuss it. If you have a recent background check from another organization, you can submit that instead of running a new one.
We want volunteering to feel safe, supported, and meaningful for everyone involved.
