Men's Center

A faith-based recovery home for men seeking lasting change.

Start the Healing Process

The Men's Center is a faith-based residential program providing a safe space for healing and growth. Serving up to 30 men, the program guides participants through a six-stage journey focused on identifying root pain, building meaningful connections, and centering on grace.

If you’re tired, overwhelmed, or unsure where to turn next, you’re not alone. You don’t have to figure this out by yourself.

Daily Practices and Programming

We believe that connection, not recovery, is the opposite of addiction, and that every person is worth fighting for. To foster deep healing, residents participate in daily classes, mentorship, therapy, hobbies, and community service. Each aspect is designed to help them slow down, process deeply, and build authentic relationships.

Mentorship and Relationships

Each resident at the Men’s Center is paired with a trusted mentor to connect and grow with. These relationships, built on unconditional love, grace, and mutual support from mentors, volunteers, and peers, foster the deep, life-changing healing that makes growth possible.

Morning Check-Ins

Every morning, residents participate in self-evaluations. This intimate and safe setting allows the men to have open conversations where they evaluate and share lessons learned from recent experiences, celebrate successes, and offer encouragement to one another.

The Six-Stage Journey

Each resident progresses through a six-stage pathway that supports long-term transformation. While every journey looks different, each stage is intentionally designed to foster self-awareness, healing, and sustainable growth.

01

Orientation

A time to settle in, build trust, and understand the rhythm of the program. Participants are welcomed into the community, paired with a Discipleship Partner, and begin establishing healthy routines, expectations, and support systems.

02

Identity in Christ

This phase focuses on discovering identity rooted in Christ rather than past wounds or behaviors. Through mentorship, study, and continued recovery work, participants begin reshaping how they see themselves and their future.

03

Growth in Christ and Moral Inventory

Participants take a deeper look at patterns, choices, and underlying pain while continuing to grow spiritually and emotionally. This phase emphasizes honesty, accountability, and holistic health while stepping into peer support and leadership.

04

Confession and Maturation

A season of healing through truth, responsibility, and spiritual maturity. Participants work toward reconciliation, develop practical life skills, and prepare for greater independence and future housing.

05

Restoration

This phase centers on transition and renewal—putting growth into action. Participants develop and communicate a clear transition plan while continuing recovery work and strengthening their role within the community.

06

Rite of Passage and Service

The final phase celebrates transformation and looks forward. Participants complete the program, consider ways to serve others, and step into their next chapter with purpose, support, and accountability.

Volunteering at the Men’s Center

We seek volunteers who will foster genuine friendships with these men, working with them to build meaningful, authentic relationships within the community and plan for their future. We’re looking for people who don’t just want to check a box, but who are seeking to immerse themselves into the heart of our mission. If you're interested in volunteering your professional skills at the Men’s Center, please contact us.

Graduate Homes

Our Graduate Homes provide a vital transition for Shepherd's House recovery program graduates as they return to work, school, and community life. These clean and sober communities offer a supportive, independent living environment. Residents receive guidance from Shepherd's House leadership, share community life together, and often give back by working in the shelter systems that once served them, contributing to society while building a stable foundation for the future.

Our Graduate Homes are made possible through the generosity of community members who donate or gift homes to Shepherd’s House Ministries, allowing us to offer stable, supportive housing rooted in stewardship and care.

Syd Brestel - Story of Transformation

When Syd retired from ministry, he wanted to continue serving, so he volunteered at Shepherd’s House Ministries. But decades of church ministry didn’t prepare him for what he found.

Mike Yunker - Story of Transformation

Pastor Mike shares how serving at Shepherd’s House Ministries transformed his life by creating a safe, grace-filled community focused on unconditional love and seeing the God-given worth in each person, and he believes preserving that authentic culture is the ministry’s most important future challenge.

Addressing Homelessness: The First Step

Maybe you have had this thought like I have: “If only they could get a job ... that would solve so many of their problems.” With some income, they could get some food, get cleaned up, find a home, and get back on their feet.
